Puerto Vallarta has been awarded the Safe Travel Stamp which is granted by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). An organization that recognizes the proper implementation of updated health and hygiene protocols, the WTTC has prepared recommendations in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO). Likewise, the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has also set guidelines for businesses on how they should adapt to life post-COVID. A vacation to Mexico is now possible, are you ready to book your next getaway? At Villa Group Resorts, we are currently welcoming guests back to our resorts. More than ever, our guest’s health and safety is our top priority. In the meantime, read below about how Puerto Vallarta received the Safe Travel Stamp.
Puerto Vallarta Awarded Safe Travel Stamp
In Mexico, businesses are beginning to reopen their doors after the temporary closure during the spring months due to COVID-19 cases. Many measures have been taken to keep residents and visitors safe. Resorts, beaches and popular tourist landmarks were closed down in order to limit the transmission of illness. Due to a decline in cases, businesses are starting to reopen. They have established health and safety standards aimed at keeping staff and visitors safe. Together, the World Tourism Organization and more than 200 travel companies worked together to create the Safe Travel Stamp. Designed to help individuals decide where they can safely vacation, the Safe Travel Stamp award provides confidence for travelers that they can take a safe vacation to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. Likewise, the neighboring state of Riviera Nayarit has been included as an area considered safe for travel.
Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – Rich Culture
Well known for tequila and mariachi, Jalisco has a rich heritage and culture that attracts tourism to the area. It is also home to popular beach destinations such as Puerto Vallarta that offer visitors endless activities to enjoy. Puerto Vallarta has beautiful beaches, tons of outdoor activities, and world-class restaurants and shopping. During June 2020, local businesses are reopening and following strict protocol that ensures the health and safety of visitors and workers. As always, residents and visitors should take care to make wise decisions as they travel and begin to frequent local businesses. Always follow personal safety tips such as regularly washing hands, using facemasks in public areas, and avoiding crowded spaces.
Riviera Nayarit – Top Destination
The neighboring Riviera Nayarit was among the first places in Mexico to receive the Safe Travels Stamp. Just north of Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit is home to the upscale beach neighborhood of Nuevo Vallarta with many luxury resorts. Ready to plan a trip to Mexico? Riviera Nayarit visitors will be pleased by the area’s high standards of quality and hygiene that have been implemented at local businesses. On June 15th, 2020, the government of Nayarit announced the gradual reopening of all hotels and motels. In order to carefully monitor the success of reopening, area resorts plan to initially operate at 30% of their capacity. If the reopening proves to be successful, they will increase their capacity slowly over time. In addition to Jalisco and Riviera Nayarit, other areas in Mexico have received the Safe Travels Stamp as well.
Right now, Mexican destinations with the Safe Travels Stamp Include:
- Baja California Sur
- Mexican Caribbean (Cancun, Riviera Maya and Grupo Xcaret)
- Riviera Nayarit
- Yucatan
- Jalisco
