Avoid Timeshare Scams
Some travelers to Mexico may end up having an unpleasant experience if they end up dealing with a timeshare scammer.
Many scammers work around town at popular tourist hot spots and will strike up a conversation in hopes of convincing travelers to buy a timeshare.
Many will offer free tickets or vouchers in hopes of persuading the traveler to learn more about the timeshare. However, some timeshares are not legitimate and you could put yourself at risk for a timeshare scam.
To play it safe, only work with reputable resort providers such as the Villa Group. We have a genuine timeshare ownership program and thousands of satisfied members.
To learn more, you can sign up to attend a timeshare presentation at one of our resorts – The presentation covers the cost to join, and the perks and benefits that come with membership.

Use a VPN to Protect Your Digital Security
In modern times, the risk of identity theft is greater than ever. Especially when traveling, it’s important to protect your data so you don’t become a victim of a digital crime.
To protect yourself, you can use a VPN to protect your private information while browsing the internet when travelers. VPNs are available for purchase through the App Store if you have an iPhone or you can research reputable brands online.
Note that if you don’t use a VPN, you could unknowingly expose your important bank details, passwords, and sensitive data to scammers. To avoid this issue, always use a VPN to securely encrypt your data. Quality VPNs are cheap such as Tunnelbear cost around $39/year making it an affordable way to stay safe.

Take A Bus
When in Mexico, many people enjoy walking around to explore the best parts of whatever city they happen to be in. In addition, most cities in Mexico also have car apps such as Uber and InDrive so you can get from one place to another without having to rent a car.
However, did you also know that many cities in Mexico have excellent bus systems that are very inexpensive? You can take local buses for less than $1 US dollar to get around town.
Plus, many buses are modern and have AC as well. If you’d like to travel around a bit, Mexico also has luxury buses for longer trips.
The higher classes are first (“primero”) and platinum (“platino”), and first-class buses in Mexico are much more comfortable than buses in the States and Canada. Some of the best providers include ETN and Primera Plus.

Restroom Tips
Lastly, another piece of advice for travelers in Mexico relates to using public restrooms. Most public restrooms cost $5 or $10 pesos for use.
Sometimes, they may not have toilet paper so it’s not a bad idea to carry a bit with you during your day. In addition, some travelers that do not speak Spanish may get confused over restroom signs.
To avoid making an embarrassing mistake, you should know that the Spanish word for women is “Mujeres.” So, if you see a door marked with an “M,” that is for the ladies and is not the men’s room.
Likewise, the men’s room will have a door marked with an “H” (for “hombre”) or a “C” (for “Caballeros”).
